Why Use RSS?

Why Use RSS?

So why use RSS? Well, I can find a whole lot of reasons why. Although I’m not technically inclined I do understand the power behind syndication. Anyone who watches television can get that idea. Still why would I want to use RSS for my viral marketing campaign? Well, let’s look at what some of the "experts" are saying.

Robin Good is well-known in the blog and RSS forums and venues. He is also known for being a successful online marketer selling viral marketing tools. I’ve read lots of his articles and interviews, not to mention buying his Top 55 RSS sites tool for submitting to blogs and RSS feeds. I like what he said in one of his posts in his blog "No RSS, no party".

I just finished reading the ebook "A Blogger’s Edge: How To Use Weblogs As Marketing Tools" by Paul Short of http://GetBlogs.com. It was written so anyone can understand and implement the ideas therein. He has a chapter all about RSS and how it can be used as an alternate communication method. Yep, he said alternate. Meaning it has to be alternative to non other than email. I’m about to tell you why and also why you’ll want to get going on this as soon as you read this!

Married 4 Good Thinking

Married 4 Good Thinking

Although I do believe in “till death do us part”, the M4G concept is not so much about permanency as it is about making great things come out of your marriage.

I have a challenge for you: write 10 good things that you’d like to see come from your marriage relationship. They can be for you, your spouse, your children, or even society (that’s right expand those borders).

Here are mine:

1. Greater faith in God

2. Better sense of self

3. Children who are responsible in adulthood

4. Stronger health

5. Stronger finances

6. Understanding

7. Ability to give more

8. Desire to care for self

9. Well-developed unconditional love for others

10. Chance to build others up emotionally and spiritually

Now write your measurable goals. Do one or two for each vision statement (good thing). They’ll go something like this:

Private Mortgage Insurance Basics

Private Mortgage Insurance Basics

Will you be asked to pay Private Mortgage Insurance, or PMI?Most lenders will require you to carry PMI if you cannot put 20% or more of your loan amount forward as a down payment. PMI protects the LENDER in case you default on your payments. PMI does not protect you, the borrower. The lender will secure the PMI policy for you, and you will pay for it. Most people choose to have PMI added to their monthly mortgage payments, but other payment arrangements are possible. The monthly cost of PMI is based on your loan amount. An approximate cost of PMI for a $100,000.00 loan is about $50.00 a month.

Your Magic Number

When the equity in your home reaches 20%, you can have the PMI policy cancelled. Your monthly payment will be recalculated to reflect that you are no longer paying for the insurance, and you can save some money. But lenders do not have to cancel your PMI until your equity reaches 22%, so you can spend extra money on this that you don’t have to. Your best bet is to figure the dollar amount that you need to reach in order to have 20% equity. Then, obtain an amortization schedule from your lender, and see when you will reach that figure. That is the date to keep in mind so you can cancel it without any extra cost to you.

Editorial Freelancing: 5 Must-Know Tips to Getting Your Foot in the Door

Publishers, editorial directors, human resource managers and editors, among others were a vocal lot regarding freelancers and what they should/should not do to get their foot in the door.

What nuggets of information can you glean from them? Here are five concrete points about which they were adamant.

1. Know your craft: Most clients like to see direct experience. This usually means working in the industry full-time for a number of years before going out on your own as a freelancer.
